Phnom Penh, 14 March 2020 – Singapore Medical Center (SGMC), managed by DrMap, in support of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month this March, organized an up close and personal health talk. As part of SGMC’s educational initiatives, over the weekend, on 14 March, attendees gained more understanding and knowledge from SGMC Singapore Colorectal Specialist, Dr. Jonathan Foo.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), International Agency for Research on Cancer, in the year 2018, colon cancer was among the top five (5) leading causes of cancer-related deaths in Cambodia. Colon cancer is highly treatable if detected early, and most colon cancers and deaths from the disease may be prevented by screening for colon polyps
To raise awareness and allow attendees to learn more about the national campaign, Dr. Foo, General & Colorectal Surgeon explained that “gut health amongst people, more so in men above 45, play a key role in being well and healthy.” He further elaborated on learning how to prevent colon cancer, the importance of regular screening, “and understanding the various test options and treatments available that will be able to detect colon cancer, hence being the most effective means of prevention, diagnosis and thereafter for patients to seek treatment.”
SGMC intends to offer medical services and treatments to Cambodians, expatriates working in the country, as well as those from neighbouring countries seeking state-of-the-art health facilities and services. Run and managed under DrMap management, utilizing Singapore healthcare standards and specialists, all treatments and services are backed by medically certified processes and protocols.
